In John 6:60–71, Jesus delivers a challenging message that causes many of His followers to turn away. He speaks of being the Bread of Life, urging His disciples to "eat His flesh and drink His blood"—a metaphor for fully embracing His sacrifice and teachings. This hard saying reveals the hearts of His listeners: some grumble and leave, while others, like Peter, remain steadfast, declaring, "Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life."
This passage challenges us to examine our own commitment to Christ. Are we willing to accept His teachings, even when they are difficult to understand or accept? True discipleship requires us to trust in Jesus' words and follow Him wholeheartedly, recognizing that He alone offers eternal life.
As we reflect on this message, let us consider our own responses to Jesus' teachings. Are we among those who turn away when the message becomes challenging, or do we, like Peter, acknowledge that there is no one else to whom we can turn?
Let us choose to stay, to trust, and to follow Jesus, even when the path is difficult.
